Created by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 is a compliance standard for service organizations that evaluates a company’s internal controls and details how well they safeguard customer data. Becoming SOC 2 certified is only possible if every person within the company prioritizes security and commits to each step leading up to the audit. We became Type I compliant in 2022; the Type I report provides a snapshot of the robustness of a service organization’s system and the suitability of its design of controls across every function from engineering to HR.

In 2023, we received our Type II certification. Protecting user data and user-uploaded content remains a top priority at Runway, and we will continue to strive for best-in-class security practices day-in and day-out, year-in and year-out.
